Options for property managers and landlords

We provide customized programs and tools designed to meet the unique requirements of property managers or landlords. If you have a question about your RTO agreement or a related issue, contact us by email at RTOprogram@centerpointenergy.com.

Start/manage a RTO agreement

A Revert to Owner (RTO) Program agreement may be arranged between landlords and their residential rental property to automatically transfer service into the property owner's name. The RTO agreement specifies the conditions by which service is transferred back to the landlord. RTO agreements can be used for any property within our service territory.

To start a new RTO agreement or update an existing agreement, complete our online application and submit it using the instructions provided. We will contact you following the processing of your application.

An RTO agreement is subject to credit approval. The landlord is subject to all CenterPoint Energy requirements applicable to the service provided, including but not limited to timely payment, security deposits and disconnection of service. Please note the submission and receipt of the RTO application does not guarantee a previously scheduled disconnection of service will be cancelled.

Receive disconnection notifications (Ohio only)

Common questions

You may revise your existing RTO agreement at any time using the online RTO application. Starting a completely new RTO agreement is not necessary if you are adding or removing properties to/from your existing RTO agreement.

To remove all of your properties and end your existing RTO agreement, use the online RTO application. Alternatively, you may provide other written notification to RTOprogram@centerpointenergy.com indicating you wish to end your existing RTO agreement. Your RTO agreement will remain active and you will retain responsibility for service at your location(s) until written notification is received.

The RTO program has replaced the Landlord Reversion Agreement. Please be advised that no active agreements on file were voided or changed as a result of the program update - if you have an existing agreement on file with CenterPoint Energy's property management group, no additional action is required.
