Alternative Energy

Understanding the pivotal role alternative energy will play in the nation’s future and recognizing the significant opportunity it presents, Vectren Economic Development is focusing much of its efforts on establishing Indiana and Ohio as leaders in the creation of high-skill, high-wage “green collar” jobs. 

A number of prominent alternative energy companies have already located within Vectren’s Indiana and west central Ohio service areas, such as

  • Brevini a wind turbine gear manufacturer that announced plans in 2008 to relocate its headquarters to Muncie, Ind.,
  • VAT-Getriebetechnik, an international manufacturer of wind turbines and renewable energy-powered lighting building its headquarters and first US manufacturing facility in Yorktown, Ind., and
  • Several biofuel producers, including Abengoa Bioenergy, POET Energy and Andersons-Marathon Ethanol that have constructed ethanol facilities throughout Indiana and Ohio
