Basic Economic Development Course Scholarship
Basic Economic Development Course - Scholarship

If you are an individual currently engaged in promoting the economic growth of a Vectren-served community and would like to increase your skills in the field of economic development, we invite you to apply for a tuition scholarship to attend one of the basic economic development courses available in either Indiana or Ohio.

A basic economic development course offers intensive training in the basic concepts, methods and strategies of economic, business and community development and will provide you with the skills that will help you grow your region.

The Ohio Basic Economic Development Course will be offered Mar. 3-5, 2010 in Columbus. Scholarship applications for this course will be accepted beginning in January 2010 and should be completed and returned by Feb. 17, 2010.  Awardees will be notified no later than Feb. 19, 2010.

Please check this website in October 2010 for information about applying for a scholarship for the Indiana Economic Development Course held at Ball State University in January 2011.

The International Economic Development Council accredits both the Indiana and Ohio courses.

In order to qualify for a tuition-only scholarship to either of these courses, an individual should be employed by a non-profit entity whose function is to promote the growth of a Vectren-served area (governmental unit; local economic development agency) or whose function facilitates the growth of a Vectren-served region (an educational institution or workforce development agency). Local elected officials with an interest in, or responsibility for a city or county's economic development will also qualify. Tuition scholarships are not granted to students, or to individuals who provide service exclusively to a geographic area that falls outside of Vectren's service territory.

Vectren may publicize the fact that it has awarded such tuition grants to particular individuals. This is not a cash grant. Vectren will reimburse the institution for tuition charges only. Vectren typically awards three grants per year, but reserves the right to vary from this practice.
